Elmhurst is like 25min express. Glen Ellyn is another 10-15 mins, depending on which train you take

Your map is good but needs to be updated for Hinsdale, which is further than Western Springs and should be in he top 10.

    Hi Humboldt1,

On my inbound trip, I drive to the Wheaton Metra station (4-5 minutes), travel on the train (42 minutes), and then walk to my office (10 minutes), for a total inbound time of 57 minutes.

On my outbound trip, I walk to Ogilvie station (10 minutes), travel on the train (34 minutes), and then drive home (4-5 minutes), for a total outbound time of 48 minutes.

Average length of each leg is 52.5 minutes. Not bad for the distance covered. I have friends that live in the city and have 30 minute commutes.

Your door to door exceeds 1 hour once you include walking to the station from home and work. Even if you live at the station in Wheaton your inbound commute would be 62 minutes and outbound 54 minutes. I am guessing you need to add another 10 minutes to that to account for the walk time between your house and the Wheaton station.

I live in Oak Park and with 16 minute train my door to door is still 36 minutes when I work downtown. By the green line it is the same time (22 min ride, less distance to talk to station)

If you work for someone else you are working class, albeit middle or upper middle class.

Wife and I work white collar jobs but, still consider ourselves working class, albeit at the upper end of the income range.

We were looking at Wheaton and Glen Ellyn but have decided to focus more on Glen Ellyn. I still prefer Lagrange and Western Springs but three wife's family lives out in Naperville/Aurora.
