This Berwyn discussion has a lot of middle to lower income people trying to justify buying into poor school districts as they are unable to buy into more affluent areas. Forest Parkmhas more and better restaurants/bars than Oak Park but the schools are crap. Housing stock in most of Oak Park south of 290 is very comparable to areas west of Harlem but priced way higher because of schools.

As noted not a single affluent Chicago suburb with crappy schools.

You need a lot of income to buy nice house in good school district. How nice of a house and how good of a district can mean the difference between making 60k to have 200k house in Naperville and making 300k to afford 1MM house in Hinsdale. I do know some low income Immigrants who rent to be in Hinsdale Central.
