Memphis has been home to one of the top-10 liver transplant programs in America. Steve Jobs selected Memphis for his liver transplant.

That status will likely end thanks to a state decision. The state is Tennessee, and the capital is Nashville. Unfortunate news, apparently petty politics. This from the Memphis Flyer:

A couple years ago, Broad Avenue hosted an experiment. Called A New Face for a New Broad, the experimental event consisted of pop-up businesses occupying empty spaces in buildings. Broad is a pretty small, walkable stretch near Overton Park, East Parkway, etc.

The tiny area known as Victorian Village is slowly expanding. The CCDC is helping move forward a bread and breakfast that has been planned for a while. From the bizjournal: Downtown committee approves loan for bed and breakfast

Memphis has sought to implement light rail access to the airport. But, alas, no funding. So, on to plan B, Bus Rapid Transit. This has been implemented impressively in Curitiba, Brazil. Hopefully it finds success in Memphis. It’s certainly more fiscally responsible, at a cost of $1 mill vs 30 mill a mile.
