No sweat on your time of posting back.. I just got off Nov. 4th anyway.. I love the job, have always loved to travel and see new and different places.. However, after this many years of nothing but traveling and age, I am burned out on traveling. Now, the worst part of the job is the trips getting to the boat and getting home. THIS time I got off almost in my own back yard.. From off the boat to walking in my front door.. less than 30 minutes..

Hi Laura! Sorry it took so long to reply; I think trucking's like working the river. Keeps ya very busy and it's far more than just a job! And I still love crossing bridges in Cincinnati AND Louisville, just hoping to spot a boat making it's way along the river pushing barges! Being in the military, I sure can relate to the "family" aspect of being on a boat crew. Sigh...If only I were younger and single, I think I'd enjoy the job!

Crew Chief.. I don't normally work on the Ohio River, my boat was in the shipyard for overhaul, their cook was out sick so they sent me there to make my days. I really enjoyed the Ohio River even if we were there during those winter storms. I normally work on the Lower Mississippi and there is NOTHING on the lower to look at but woods. There is town after town on the Ohio and CELL phone reception almost the whole way... Something they are lacking on the LMR. I wouldn't hesitate to do another trip up there if it weren't for the 2 day car trip to get there!

Hi Laura! Don't know what I like better; your recipes or your photos! Both are AWESOME!!! Many thanks for posting! I cross the Brent Spence Bridge in Cincinnati (the Westernmost of the 3) in a big truck regularly. I always look for barges! Now I'll have to wonder if you're down there, cooking up something delicious! Crew Chief

Don't worry about "disappearing" -- I do it all the time. We all can't be sitting here all the time, although it does get addictive.

Thanks for joining my friends list. Hearing you talk about your cooking on that tugboat makes me hungry!!! And at a time when I'm trying to lose weight! lol I love your photo albums. I probably should try to get one of my own going on some subject. I sure have enough pictures to share.
