Hi Mark, Is it possible to get a one bedroom in Tyler that's decent (clean, well maintained) for less than $850? Do you know which apts. are the best for someone looking to be frugal? I'm worried about crime, as well. Crime reports don't look very good for Tyler -- any ideas for the outskirts? Are there apartments near Tyler but not IN Tyler? Thanks!

Hi Mark, my biggest concern about moving to a warm state is snakes. I know hundreds of thousands of people live in the south with the snakes. My husband has a great fear of snakes, even small garter snakes. Is it possible to do things outside, play sports, hike, swim etc. safely? I've seen photos where big snakes are crawling up the front doors of houses etc. I've even seen a photo of a rattlesnake that curled up under the cantle of a saddle. Ick. How big of an issue are snakes? Is it possible to have shubbery, plants etc. without snakes in them?
    Thanks!

    Hello Mark,
Can you please email me the detailed information on Tyler ( which you have mentioned that you have in one of your post) as I might be relocating there.

    Thanks in advance.

Sorry I'm so late with a response. Tyler has a water park for the kids down SW 155 about 10 miles. A larger Water Park on I20 near Canton 35 miles. Tyler has a great zoo that thousands from DFW area visit each year about 500,000 attendance but not crowded, no not a major city zoo. Many lakes to fish or ski: Lake Tyler and Lake Tyler East, Lake Palestine, nearer Tyler about 15 miles, many, many golf courses, one where the Texas State Open is held each year, The Cascades; Tyler State Park, swimming paddle boats, miniture golf, etc. mountain bike trails overnite camping; Texas State Railroad 40 minutes south between, Rusk and Palestine, even Christmas runs, Little League for the kids, many teams. Longview, same in a few ways, golf, fishing, Great Ballon Race in July, hot but neat. Not large enough for the major metro amusement park, but Tyler does have a very small one on 155S. But only a 1 1/2 to 2 hour drive for a major fix for outdoor activities. Good Luck to you !!

Thank you for all the information you put about Tyler and Longview, TX. If you don't mind my asking, what kind of outdoor activities do these areas offer?

If I understand you question, I have senior moments now, lol. Yes you could live outside the city. You couldn't get very far away, outside the city limits if you went South or Southeast of ETMC. But if you went East, maybe Northeast, but there aren't the selection of homes in those directions. Are you trying to find a house to rent? or one to buy on a tract of land, if so, if you don't mind could tell me a price range, I'm an former realestate broker, not going to try to sell you anything not licensed now, but have kept up with the market, especially now, because looking for a place myself, both in and outside of Tyler.

I know I "ran on here" but tell me more and if I can I would be glad to help. Mark
