... and thank you soooooooooooooo much for distancing yourself so elegantly from the bitterness of this world you surely never helped to create.

No, you didn't step on my toes. I have seen and worked with some bad people. I was just saying the crooks will cheat you no matter what your sex, because a man can be snowed, too.
That's why I said try to get a referral and find someone you can trust.
I recently retired and moved, so I am also trying to find a good shop. No longer having access to the shop with all the specialize equipment, I just do the minor stuff now.
I took my daughters car to a shop here that looked pretty good, told them what the problem was. I also told the guy I was a retired mechanic and was looking for a quality shop I could trust.
He called me later to tell me the problem I complained about they couldn't find, but they did find almost $5 K work that needed done..!
I picked up the car and repaired it myself. I was outraged that they couldn't diagnose a problem when I told them what it was, but could five grand worth of work that wasn't ordered. I told the guy the car was for sale when I took it in, so I was just fixing a few minor things. The car was for sale for $3k, so I wasn't about to put $5k into it..!
The problem I wanted fixed was a broken transmission mount. After I replaced it and cured the problem, I wanted to take the mount to them and throw it on his desk and tell him to hire some people who knows what they are doing, but wife wouldn't let me.
I won't even look at the place when I drive by now, and if anyone asks, I will tell them the place is a rip off. so I'm still looking , too, in the meantime, doing the work myself.
I know there are plenty of honest shops, but you have to seek them out. The worst thing about moving is losing all of my connections in every field, and starting over.
I only moved an hour away, so I have had to make some trips back for some things, like tires, but I can't take my house there to get a carpenter...!
so no problem, we're friends again...

md, very often I return to Crossroads (a place I know and also the place where decisions are made). Maybe we can meet THERE some day soon. Ease our burdens by understanding where we do really come from - and that any "bad" decisions ARE forgiven. Let our love increase and intensify!
