Good, since you won't offer me proof, and only come back with a personal attack, you are a waste of my time because you force your viewpoints on me anyway. Maybe you are just in denial that you are wrong. You were incorrect about Missouri seceding from the Union, and I know for a fact that most people from O'Fallon, Missouri do not speak with Southern accents, which is backed up by virtually any map of Southern dialect out there, in addition to accents I've heard spoken around the area. Also, I happen to know someone from Normandy, born and raised, in his mid 50's, who speaks with an accent as Midwestern as anyone's. Normandy is only 6 or 7 miles north from where I was born and raised, for crying out loud. And I have heard very, very few Southern accents. But you appear to be a Missourian with Southern roots, and many Southern whites have historically settled in Midwestern cities, so as far as I am concerned, this argument is over. You may be a Southerner, but that does not make St. Louis southern..it has a few Southern influences, but so do Kansas City and Cincinnati. St. Louis is essentially identical to those cities in every way, shape, and form...it has almost nothing in common with Louisville, Nashville, or Memphis. St. Louis is a historic industrial and manufacturing city that blacks migrated to from the South during the Great Migration...it was pro-Union in the Civil War, it votes liberal, its architecture is Midwestern, most St. Louisans speak with a Midwestern accent, it is a beer producing city like Milwaukee, and it is overwhelmingly Catholic. Not to mention, its climate is humid continental...hot, humid summers and cold winters that see a decent amount of snow. Italians, Germans, and many Europeans settled in St. Louis, like in Detroit, Chicago, Cleveland, etc. If this is not enough proof to convince you that St. Louis isn't Southern, then I guess you are simply uneducated and trying to bother me. St. Louis is also a democratic leaning city. Its culture is Midwestern. Just because a city has its own unique style of barbecue doesn't make it Southern. And barbecue has always been popular all over the United States. Now if you're not convinced, you're either stupid or you just enjoy bugging the **** out of me. If you don't have to prove anything to me, why the **** do you continue to post and why did you try to force your viewpoints on me in the first place? You were the one that sent me a message first.

Your opinions come as close to the facts as Maine comes to being Southern or Florida comes to being Northern. I'm sorry, but you either listen to the wrong people or choose to ignore factual information. If you have all this information you claim to base your facts on, I would like to see some proof of it.

Omg what is going on in here?!?!

I am so sorry to hear that about your father, MG. I lost my dad when I was 20, he was 73. I lost my mother five years later. I know how it is to lose your parents, unfortunately.

Because you are factually wrong about many of the things you have said, and I'm not saying that as a personal attack, I'm saying it because it is simply the truth...I'm not giving any information that isn't true. Your opinion doesn't supercede facts. That's all I'm doing. I'm not trying to start trouble or anything. Facts are facts. Opinions don't override them.

hmm..well since I haven't actually been to Missouri I don't know how much help I would be. But to me, (and most Southerners I think) when I think of Missouri I don't think of the South. It's a border state, but I'd identify it more with the midwest. Maybe the far Southern part of Missouri qualifies as the South because of their culture (I hear).

Now Texas, on the other hand, I would say is a Southern state overall.

You don't have to have facts about your opinion, but it certainly can mean your opinion can be flat out wrong, which it is. Is it just not possible for you to admit that? You were wrong about Missouri seceding, and you are wrong about Missouri being Southern, especially about St. Louis being Southern, St. Louis is a solidly Midwestern city. You may have Southern roots, but you are an anomally among St. Louisans, and I'm not saying that to be mean, but St. Louisans are Midwesterners, not Southerners.

The difference between my opinion and your opinion is that my opinion coincides with the facts, while your's does not. So no, it's not just a matter of opinion. You can have any opinion you want to, but it doesn't mean jack if it does not coincide with hard facts, none of which you seem to be able to produce.
