I just rated 2 or 3 of your posts "positively" and sent you a friend request. I loved your post "Let me tell you about Nebraska"! I'm age 63 and looking to relo. from the Philippines back to the states. At the present time my income is limited to Soc. Sec. Disability income, so I'm looking at Nebraska as a potential home due to (1) the low cost of living and (2) the low rate of unemployment - I MISS WORKING! I know I can handle at least a part-time job. If possible, I'll be moving by May of this year.

Christmas Eve...
Every creature is stirring. The cows are moving up the hill under the horse's watchful eye. The barn cats are pouncing on anything that moves, including their own and their relatives' tails. The herd dog is wandering back and forth between me and DH, looking for breakfast scraps. The chickens are arguing, clucking and crowing, which they do from sunup to sundown. The sun is shining, there is very little snow left after Wednesday's little offering. Yesterday we had steak, eggs,...

These are the types of people I live around.

This week was pretty hectic at work. I was pretty involved in a lot of various out-putting of 'fires' - everything from social-services-induced drama with some teenagers to co-teaching a class on American History (I was able to give the Southern perspective and some factual information about the War of Northern Aggression ).

Talking to one of the teachers about her horse ranch, we discussed the recent lifting of...

The fact is that most elected officials don't realize that there are algebraic equations that control costs and spending for services. Say Detroit gets a $2 million Federal grant to build a new prison. They cheerfully hire architects and planners to build a brand-new, state of the art prison.

I simply cannot believe all of the people who are talking on City-Data recently about leaping up and moving - to places where they have no family, no friends, no job offers, no residence - all they have is some gas money and the devout belief that "ANYwhere is better than HERE!"

Bad enough that some singles and couples are doing it; now there are whole FAMILIES planning on packing up ther cars and just taking off - for the sunny South, for the busy West, for New York City...

What IS it with folks who must demand attention to themselves, whine about how miserable they are, and then react with rage when someone tells them life is what THEY make it, that THEY are responsible for their own life and their own problems and solutions? And why do so many feel constrained to calm their self-ruffled feathers when these 'lifetime victims' get so upset?

Must be this whole new liberal mindset, where so many succubi are clinging so desperately to other people, ANY and...
