Thanks for the insights about living in Houston. It is very reassuring to know that people with kids in Houston say their kids enjoy it. Having never had children there, even though I am from Texas, makes me wary. My husband is earning £150K here, but only because he is a contractor with no benefits whatsoever. The hope is that eventually he will be able to return to a staff position for the benefits and the security. For a family of four, the security especially is important. We think, hopefully not unrealistically, that this will be more feasible in Houston. Also, there will be more job opps for me. I tried finding work here at the beginning and found it incredibly hard.

We are also on the dual track... I will get my British passport next year and my husband will be on track to get citizenship after we've lived in the states a few years. The option to retire anywhere is very appealing.

I don't blame you for wanting to return here. I will certainly miss it.

Hi, I cannot post that link on the forum, but please read this pergola/arbor metal inserts - Landscape Design Forum - GardenWeb and see if is helpful. This is a great forum, and I am sure you can contact members and ask questions about your project. Good luck

Ha! I just saw it! You're (part) Polish!!

Look at the second to last post: " I'll be happy to put you in touch directly with the guy who helped me out at Steel Supply in Houston."
I am at work right now and cannot see the pictures, but everyone says that is beautiful.
