I have read many of your posts and can tell you know the area well. I was wondering if I could ask you some more questions?
My husband and I are looking to relocate, to central Oregon, probably the Salem area.
We live in a smaller town (35,000) in Idaho. We have 5 children, so great schools and safety are very important. We've lived in Idaho for 8 years. We hardly lock our doors and some people actually keep their cars running while running into 7-11.
We also have lived in a big town (500,000), in CA, with lots of crime and to many gang violence, car thefts daily, etc. So we've gone from one extreme to another.
As I've been researching your beautiful state, I think Salem may fall somewhere in between. We will have options, because my husband's sales territory will be from Salem south to the border.
What town/city would you recommend? The home rentals we've looked into are in Woodburn. What is the town, crime and schools like?
