    Hi TamRE:
My husband and I recently "found" Punta Gorda. We are planning our retirement in 4 years. We initially thought Cape Coral was "the place" for us, but the more and more I read, I don't think this is where we want to be. We liked it because of the many canals and proximity to Ft Myers. But the more I read about Punta Gorda and the community feel, paths and parks and downtown area, the more it sounds like exactly what my husband and I are really looking for. In looking online, Punta Gorda Isles is where we would like to look. Is this an area you take care of?

TAMRE: I read your post about Tidewater Preserve and have a question if yo do not mind. We are transferring from the east coast (Jupiter) and are looking for the best place for my wife and 10 year old daughter with a "reasonable" commute to Tampa. Does TW have many families? The pricing seems pretty good for what you get. Thanks for your input.

TamRE, I find your input invaluable! As a real estate agent, you know so much about the areas we are interested in. We are having a very difficult time deciding between a retirement sf in neighborhoods and villas in 55+. We are only 61 and not looking to live among 80 year-olds. However, we don't want to be in a neighborhood full of kids making all kinds of noise (been there, done that all our lives). Also concerned about leaving a sf unattended for months while we are home in Maine for several months each year. Are there companies that will keep an eye on your home for you while you are gone? Any advice for us? Regarding sf homes in North Port: If we spend less than about $130,000, would that likely be in a less desirable neighborhood? In FL, can we get a RE agent to represent us as clients rather than customers? I am a RE in Maine, and for buyers it is WAY better for them to be represented by a RE agent, rather than have her be a transaction broker for them Thank you!

Hi TamRE-- I'm recently retired, living in NY, and looking to relocate to SW FL. I've been reading the Port Charlotte/Punta Gorda forums for a couple of months now, and am always impressed with the information you provide. I've made 4 trips down there since October, and looked extensively at the Ft. Myers and Cape Coral areas. I need a good real estate agent to show me properties in Port Charlotte, Punta Gorda, North Port, and Placida when I come down next week. I'll be there from Monday April 1- Friday, April 5. I have a pre-approval letter in hand, and am ready to buy, providing I fall in love with the area. Ft. Myers had a few nice areas. Cape Coral I did not care for. I have a laundry list of criteria I'm looking for in a home, if you are interested and available next week. Please let me know. Thank you..........Jim Saridis (saridisj2@yahoo.com)

Hi TamRE, If you don't mind, I have a question. How did you train for your real estate career? I am considering a career change and do not want to have to pay for training. Is this a realistic point of view? Thanks in advance, June

Thanks for the info about the home insurance. AAA was able to get the insurance for us for $2400. Much better than the original $10,000 we were quoted! Thanks!!!!
