Obviously I don't check this page... well... ever! Sorry about the late response. As for your concern about the lack of local HD channels, me thinks you gots a weird setup with DirecTV because with our Dish we've got the locals in HD. Keep in mind that the "local" affiliates are based out of SLC (KUTV, KTVX, KSL and KSTU) while the "true local channels" are... crap.
Most of the time they just run old, obscure movies or oddball TV shows with a simulcast news of it's parent station: KUTV (my station) handles KMYU (which, I'm told by our engineering dept. is going to be upgraded to HD very soon) and KSL deals with KCSG. If you're getting channels from Las Vegas, I can't really speak to how they're handling their signal.
Anyhoo, I hope that, by now, you've gotten this figured out and am enjoying us in HD!

...and I'll be sure to check back more than twice a year. ;-)

Parade of Homes?! Really?! My reporter and I did a story on it a few days before they opened up and were really impressed at some of the homes we got to get a sneak peek at. Beautiful... but when they cost upwards of $4 million, they better! Your wife will certainly get some great ideas from all of 'em! Let's just hope it doesn't break your bank account! ;-)
