why create the scepter for a king if there is no real life application for it... They were originally objects for a show of power.

Thanks for the response, ptsum. It's interesting that it's based on oral traditions alone. I honestly don't know, but I wonder if archaeological records would disagree.

As for the 2nd point, why create a ceremonial weapon if there is not a real-life application for such a thing?

to answer your question. Our oral history which was passed down from generation to generation and is told to us by the history keepers and storytellers of our people is very accurate and truthful. Much like other ancient groups of people who had no written history but had individuals who are responsible for keeping the history of their people, such was the same as ours before we got a written language.

Now to answer the second part of your question.. The axes and spears were mostly ceremonial in their nature and were considered symbols of authority much like a king carries a scepter. It was not until the European invaded our land that we had to use these implements for defensive purposes.

Hello, first I wanted to thank you for your reply to my post. I will definitely be checking out these churches when I return to Omaha. Actually, I think I should have been more specific in my post. Yes it is important for me to find a church that will teach the Word in truth, but it is also equally important to be involved in the different ministries outside the main service. Do you know if either of the places you mentioned have a Men's Ministry, or better yet, a Singles Ministry? My experience with the Singles Ministry over at Westside wasn't exactly what I needed. Sure we got into the Word and everything, but did we seriously study it or get asked questions that tested our faith? Hardly, and we barely got together outside the Sunday School class and when we did, it was just to go see a movie or go out to eat. So, if you can get back with me on any information regarding the ministries of the churches you mentioned it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you and God Bless!

Hay Preacher, I guess you thought it was unimportant to answer my question, however I thought it was a legitimate question.

No idea. I guess I ought to be more choosy about who I accept...I don't know anything about him/her.
