A Horseshoe crab! These are actually not crabs, they are more closely related to spiders.

I have no idea what this is, but it's pretty.

These seagulls were more common on the East Coast than the more familiar gray gulls. They were also smaller, and, I think, prettier.

I can't tell whether I love this or absolutely hate it. But whatever.

Picket fences protect the precious dunes, and run along the edge of the beach.

It is actually illegal here to walk on the dunes, and you can get heavily fined for basically even thinking about it.

This is a beautiful flower growing on the dune a few steps from my front door.
