your Michigan piece is inspiring. I recently moved (job related move) to Houghton MI from Detroit area where i had lived my whole life----was born and raised there. I'm 52 and currently single, and wondering if i'll ever get used to this place. Although i'm keeping myself as busy as i can with outdoor activities, i'm having a hard time making any substantial friendships. But your piece on the beauty of this place is beyond accurate, it's soulful, heartfelt. It almost reads like a poem. And it's inspiring me to 'keep the faith' and give this place another chance. My spirit wanes back and forth. But because of you, i'm feeling good about living here. . .at least today. I just wanted to say 'thank you' . It's not often one finds that quality of writing in this type of forum. Thanks for a well written piece.
