Hi there ylisa!! Been a while since I've been on...but I really DO think of you often. Esp. when I watch any DIY show, LOL!! Hope you're enjoying the summer. I started a new job about 6 months ago - sure is nice to have health benefits!

So I must admit I came here for a reason. After not getting specific answers, I decided to check...WWMALD? (What would Mike and Lisa Do?). Hoping you will have a thought or two or even a thread I might have missed. Saw some gorgeous vinyl plank flooring at Lowe's, looks just like real wood. The flooring guy (who probably will be in the lighting dept. tomorrow & the garden dept. the day after) didn't want to answer.

I want to put it over a concrete porch. The porch is covered, but here in the northeast, as you know, the wind will deliver the elements to more than just the edge of the porch. Do you think installing that over concrete that is mostly protected from the elements will work? You are the bee's knees by the way! Thanks!

Ignore me, Lisa! Just passing by, and thought I'd drop in, have a look around, and then move on again

You should ABSOLUTELY turn your CD thread about your house into a book. I'm sure if you printed out your chapters and took them to an agent they would jump on it. There's such an interest in Off The Grid living now, you'd have a ready market. You were wonderful to share your experience here on CD, but a book would be great, too! Hope you do it! 601

OK....now the coming home story

On Tuesday Mike and I backtracked to New Port Richey FL for our dentist appointments. After two hours we finally headed north and out of Florida. We drove until about 9pm and made it to a campground in SC. It was dark and we never even saw the campground. We hooked up the electric for heat and left the next morning at 5:30. On the road again. We gradually watched the temps dropping and when we hit the mountains we saw a lot of snow. Not...

It's a sad day on the farm. The cow people came and took the calves out. So far it hasn't been too bad except for one mother who keeps calling for her baby. Supposedly there is a "right" time to take the calves out according to the Farmer's Almanac...and today is one of the days. I hope they are right.

So that started me thinking of all the cow stories and all the ups and downs of living near cows
