Some great news, Pinnacle finally chose to relocate its 600 employees to the One Commerce Square Builiding downtown. They will occupy about 12 stories of the building, which will be extensively renovated by the new building owners. In addition, its out of the area employees average about 21,000 nightly hotel stays per year.

It would have been nicer to have a non Memphis company relocate to the area, but is great for the overall perception that the core of the city, downtown, is still a viable and exciting place to work. This is also excellent for the downtown businesses.

Go downtown, Go Memphis!

Promising news. Now they (the prospective developers) need to lock that building down, get the deal done.

plus, this airline is losing passengers, and the industry is in for more consolidation, and that should be obvious with all the big deals that have gone down, e.g. Contenental, etc etc

They may become a casualty in short order

Any fool can see their earnings suck

1 yr return on their stock is DOWN 22%, and the stock price has been falling like a rock, now at about 5.40 per share, EPS at about 40 cents

Lackluster performance year over year, and could become a white elephant for Memphis as well

Any lay person can look at their charts for the last 3 years through the last 6mos and know not to have faith in this dog of a company in a highly expense-laden business, and can get squashed like a bug by giants in the industry

This company is not an AutoZone for instance...in short, they SUCK

You don't know what you are talking about. Are you a former employee?

Yeah, I noticed that too..., he made some points though, especially with the two major mergers in the last few weeks. Also, the stock is not only down for this year, but I'm afraid the stock also has an overall trend of being down. Welcome to Pinnacle Airlines Corp. - Investor Relations - Stock Chart

If they can get this deal through though it still would be a good thing for DT.

Did you really just examine financial data on a city data forum? Talk about to much time on your hands.

Pinnacle is one of the largest regional airlines in this country. They just purchased Mesaba and Colgan Air. They have guaranteed contracts with Delta, United/Continental for the next 5-10 years and at risk flying on the Colgan side with US Airways. Heck, Delta gave Pinnacle the money to buy Mesaba from Delta!!! Delta could have sold Mesaba to anyone. They chose Pinnacle because Pinnacle does a large amount of DL Connection flying.

Pinnacle could be merged with with another massive regional such as Skywest but that is very unlikely.

Take it from me, Mesaba is moving to Memphis from Minneapolis within 2 years. Why would they be planning a move to Memphis if there will be no HQ to move to? Mesaba told me to plan on having Minneapolis be a temporary location due to the move to Memphis.

Pinnacle could be in line for huge growth on the Colgan side. Depending on how the union issues play out, United might be looking for a ton of Q400 turboprops.

Pinnacle has grown a lot this year. It is now one of the largest airlines in the country. Pinnacle does NOT sell its own seats. Delta, United, Continental sells the seats for them. Pinnacle gets profit guarantees as part of its contracts. Pinnacle could care less how few people are in their seats as long as they have the guaranteed profits from the contracts. The contracts also normally guarantee certain cost payments so the majors pay for a lot of the fuel costs.

I am happy they are moving down town. Now we get free parking when down town!
