Trail is open sunrise to sunset. If you're on it after dark you'll be charged w/ trespassing. See official website and FAQ:
FAQs
This trail is great. 80sKid, I don't think anyone had the idea that a trail would change the neighborhood, but it's a step in the right direction. Have you been on the trail? Give it a try. I love it.

It seems that the people who constantly complain about a lack of quality of life in Memphis are the same people who put down anything done to improve it - usually by the argument that the money should be spent elsewhere - usually on police or schools. Not that those aren't a priority, but what kind of city would it be if NOTHING was spent on the greenline, golf courses, skatepark, other park facilities, community centers, libraries?

Even though I may not personally use many of those amenities, as a whole they do have a positive affect on my quality of life....

wow, some of you complain too much.
for a bunch of reasons, this is a good thing. memphis is fat and drives too much. more bike paths and more traffic jams bc cars are waiting on bikes and walkers.

more people on foot and bike will also positively i pact crime in the long run.

They like to complain, they are addicted to negativity, and they seek to preserve that addiction and things that they can complain about. Either consciously or, more likely, unconsciously.

Read my first statement. I think the Greenline is great. But you won't reshape Memphis culture with a walking/biking trail. That was my point. And people in the county won't start using a bike trail to commute to work.

Also, in general, Memphians aren't into fitness. We're into eating and sitting down watching other people do stuff.

One path may not reshape Memphis, but it is a start.
In cities with bike lanes on the street as well as Paths
People do bike to work.

Sounds great in theory. But Memphians don't respect cyclists or motorcycle riders.

Little off topic but it's funny watching people's reactions when I'm in the checkout line at Walmart. I buy some organic stuff, frozen vegetables, and a lot of whole grain items. No pork, canned goods, soft drinks, or real sugary stuff either. People stare at me and my basket in awe, for some strange reason. And don't let folks here see you doing a push-up or sit-up. You're automatically labeled a fitness nut. 20 lbs. overweight is considered healthy. Sedentary is the lifestyle.

Man, you are completely off base. The trail is 6.5 miles long and a short part of it goes through Binghampton. And the part it goes through is right near a police sub station. Cops patrol this line all the time on their bikes and cameras will be coming soon. This trail is highly active and activity is one of the biggest things that deters crime. Might want to get your facts in order first.
