But just how long is Poplar??
I've seen it downtown, Germantown (I think), Collierville etc. I'm just curious if it connect all the areas? |

Poplar is a highway actually....70? Is that right? So it just keeps going east.

If it is US-70 it runs somewhat parallel to I-40 for a very long distance (it does here in Middle TN as well).

Poplar, IIRC, is State Hwy 57 and US Hwy 72. Hwy 57 goes all the way to Pickwick in Hardin County (along the Tennessee River). Hwy 72 goes through Mississippi and Alabama before coming back into Tennessee and terminating in (I think) Chattanooga.
US Hwy 70 comes in from the east in Arlington/Bartlett and becomes Summer Ave. Then, Hwy 70 is the same route as I-40 until you cross into Arkansas. Going east, Hwy 70 goes through Nashville, then splits into north and south routes, then reunites, then goes all the way to the Atlantic Ocean via North Carolina. |

I was thinking I was wrong. 70 is Summer, 72 is Poplar, you're right.
Poplar really is probably the main thoroughfare through town. It can get you anywhere, just keep driving east. ![]() |
