Hahahahahahaha................how does BBQ not count as food?

Ok........well, in my opinion, pizzas and hotdogs don't count as food either, so Chi and NYC receive no awards.

Good retort, defie!

BBQ doesn't count as food...give me a heads-up before you crack me up like that again!

Rendezvous is good, but you're paying for the atmosphere and not the cuisine. Pig & Whistle, Neelys, and Interstate BBQ are all great choices. In Millington, the Pig is a great choice for non-rib BBQ (their ribs could use a little work).

So I'm going to be adventurous tomorrow at lunch and try something new. Should I wander down to The BBQ Shop, or should I venture to Cozy Corner?

Oh, and is the Neely's in Midtown (can't remember what street -- Union maybe) the same as Interstate, or are these two different Neely families?

Thanks.

I love Cozy Corner. I wasn't aware of a Neely's in midtown.

Also, I don't think anyone's mentioned it, but Payne's on Lamar & McLean is really good, also.

I just remembered where the Neely's I saw was -- It's on Jefferson, a few blocks west of the Med.

OK, Cozy Corner it is. I am not ordering bbq bologna, though. My boss comes back to work with that at least once a week.

Memphis is NOT known for fantastic choices in food...it's not Chicago, or even Atlanta. Memphis almost never gets any awards for great food (BBQ does not count in my book). Memphis is not a great food destination (like Chicago, Miami or SanFran, NYC, or NOLA)
That post has to be in the top 10 most idiotic posts on the internet. BBQ epitomizes food. Even acclaimed Food Network chef Alton Brown stated, "Memphis might be the culinary capital of the country. I'm not saying it is, but it might be." I think he knows a little more than some fool that doesn't think bbq is great food.

I think you misunderstood what Mr. Brown actually said about Memphis food. I think what he was saying is that Memphis BBQ ranks with Pringles and Top Ramen and could never be anything more than dorm room junk food.

I'm confused - are you sticking up for BBQ or putting it down?

I apologize, I left my little winking emoticon off, that should've let everyone know I was being sacastic. Darn the way sarcasm comes off in text!
