Millington
Hello:
Does anyone have information on the city of Millington? The residential homes appear to be new. What about the area - restaurants, shopping etc. Thanks if anyone could reply.

There is no Millington in the Tri-Cities.
The only thing that sounds kinda close would be Milligan. Is that what you mean?

I don't know anything personally, but perhaps this link will help:
Millington, Tennessee ~ Official City Home Page
This thread may need to be moved to the Memphis or Tennessee forums.

Millington has been around for a long time. It was once a city very far north of Memphis, but now it's almost a surburb. It's not as connected like Bartlett, Germantown, etc, but it's more or less just a burb of Memphis. It was an old country small town before, now there is more there just due to the expansion of Memphis north.
The few times I've been up there, and from a friend who lived there for a while, there was nothing to do. She drove into Memphis to eat, shop, go out, everything. Depends on what you are looking for in a community though.

While Millington is a suburb of Memphis, it is more like a typical rural good-sized Southern town with all the same positives and negatives of those towns. It's mainly blue collar. The worst part about it is that the commute to Memphis is through the ghetto and a million stop lights, though I-69 is planned for somewhat near future.

Speaking of I-69, have they decided where the exact location will be? My brother lives on Old Millington Road, and I would hate to think that it would be really close to his house.

Millington is an ever-shrinking town. I was really surprised by how bad it looked the last time I drove through there.

Millington is growing! Very fast. Sears is thinking about building a new store there like target. I-69 is supposed to run just west of Millington- a friend of mine on West Union Road said theyre moving because its supposed to run right through their house. No garuntees yet however, they havent begun construction in Millington.
