Hi Looking to move to Memphis and was curious if there was a Brazilian community in or around the Memphis area.

I personally have never heard of Brazilian people here. I'm sure there has to be a few, but Memphis has very few "communities" like that. Black, white, and there are a few areas of town that might be considered more hispanic or vietnamese. I would think a search of Google might generate some more insight into it. We don't have areas like "little italy" or "chinatown" like some cities have, if that's what you mean. But just in terms of people from Brazil living here, I'm sure there are some but I personally have never met any that I'm aware of.

I have a Brazilian friend and two Columbian friends here, but there is no "Braziltown" or anything like that here.

Thank you both for your quick responses. My wife is from Brazil and with the amount of travel we do we seem to finfd a little hub of Brazilians where ever we travel. The latest being in Mobile Al which really suprised us. There is a possiblility of us making Memphis our new home and if there are any Brazilians out there or if anyone has befriended anyone from the deep south we would likethe oportunity to meet them.

Thanks again

I know a lot of people from Brazil here, but there is no particular part of town they live in. They seem to integrate quite well with the rest of Memphis.

Gabrielle Rose (Brazilian Olympic swimmer) is from Memphis; daughter of Mike Rose and Gayle Rose (former was with HI/Promus/Gaylord, married Mrs. Fields of Mrs. Fields cookies, I think, latter is with the Grizzlies).

I'm sure there isn't a large community, probably not as large as Mex, Greek, Ital, Chinese, but I'm sure they're out there.

At least I think it was Brazil. If not, disregard my post

There will be an event in Midtown on September 15th--some kind of Latin American celebration, and I believe there will be a stand representing Brazil. You may want to stop by if you are in town. It will take place in Overton Park.
