Default Memphis Flooding

Has there been any severe flooding in or around Memphis in the past few years? Are there any areas to avoid when there are heavy rains? Area suggested not to live in due to flooding? ect...

Thanks

No. You're the 2nd person to ask about flooding this week - strange I guess maybe people think that becaue we're right next to the river? But we're up on the bluff....hundred feet or so above the river. The Arkansas side is the side that would flood, not us.

Yeah remember the Memphis nickname - "The Bluff City". The city is a good 20 or 30 feet over the river. Then travel over the bridge to Arkansas and see all that low level marshy ground in West Memphis (note-W. Memphis is actually in AR). That's where the Mississippi ends up when it overflows.
Local flooding can occur on the creeks during heavy rains, just like anywhere, but I've never heard of heavy flooding in any specific area.
