I'm trying out for The Biggest Loser and will be making the trek to Memphis. I'm not really familiar with Memphis at all. I got lost on Elvis Presley Blvd one time and apparently that's a not-so-nice part of town. But anyway, the auditions are at the 24 Hour Fitness on Ridgeway Road. The zip code is 38119.

Any ideas? Safe area? Not so safe? What about hotels and what not around that area? Should I stay somewhere else? If so - where?

Thanks so much!

There's not a thing in the world wrong with that part of town. You'll be right across the street from a hospital, an assisted living home and right at two of the most exclusive private schools in town. It's a very nice area.

As for hotels - any around Poplar and 240 are probably your closest bet.

There's a nice Embassy Suites near there.

That's neat St. Francis I take it? There is a Hampton Inn nearby as well. Just be aware, there are active train tracks right there next to a couple of the hotels and it's loud (from what I have read from reviews on here of various hotels). There is also a Hilton at Poplar/240.

As a side note, that's quite funny they are doing auditions here. I think Memphis was ranked one of the top 3 most overweight cities last year.

Any of the hotels in the Poplar/240 area are fine. There's a Hilton, Embassy Suites, Hampton Inn, Park Place, and some others. The area is fine.

How many pounds r u a fixin to loose? The hotel of the south is the Peabody, located down town, very close is Beale Street. Nice place to visit and throw down. Eat some of that Bar-B-Que and walk it off to Ridgeway!
Take in a Redbird game at Autozone Park... The World Champion's minor leauge team. Drink some of that good Memphis water while your here, it's free.
