1. You could buy a
Memphis - Local - Restaurants, Hotels & Travel, Shopping & Grocery - Entertainment Coupon Book . Last one I bought was a few years ago at Walgreens. It's kind of pricey for just coupons, but pays for itself if you plan on going to some of the attractions they list, or plan on eating out a lot while you are here. There are hotel discounts too.
2.You can also usually find small free booklets with coupons for local businesses and restaurants at the front of grocery stores, drug stores, and some chain restaurant lobbies.
3. If you stop at rest stops/welcome centers, or sometimes fast food places, along the highways into cities they will have coupon booklets or brochures with coupons in them.
4. A few area attractions have short periods of free admission. Lichterman Nature Center and the Pink Palace are free Tuesdays 1-5 pm, suggest you call to confirm.

Another kid friendly place to visit might be the
Memphis Botanic Garden (http://www.memphisbotanicgarden.com/index.cfm?section=12&page=204 - broken link), my kids used to adore feeding the koi at the bridge in the Japanese garden. They also have a new kids area that looks like fun.
