There is nothing wrong with Lakeland! Munford/Atoka area is a great place to live- its just far enough away, while still being close enough, from Memphis and its problems. Tipton County schools is where the real growth in the area is coming from, at least thats the idea we in Millington are getting. Millington is losing dozens of families with children to Tipton County and for good reason. Millington's schools are declining fast. it is also due to the "white flight" from Memphis/ Shelby County to Tipton, Fayette and Desoto counties. Saw that flight thing on Wikipedia- cant say I disagree. But I digress, Munford/Atoka is a great choice- you can still get alot of house for little money, but its not going to stay that way for long with all the growth. the area is pretty Safe too.

We bought a home in Templeton Farms in Sept . We moved from a much smaller house in Munford after 15 years. We love the area and really love Templeton Farms. If you come out to Templeton Farms, you must take a look at the APEX built homes. They have an office at the corner of Meade Lake and Vernon. We bought a home just a few doors down . These houses are phenomenal for all you get for the price. Not only that but the builders or owners of APEX are 2 of the nicest guys you ever want to meet. The houses in this subd start at 180's but Apex usually start about 200's or so. However these houses come with granite countertops, travertine and tumbled marble floors and showers, ss appliances, security lighting on eaves of house, lights on stairways, covered back patios, frieze carpet, bamboo or hardwood floors, stained concrete. These are all STANDARD. NOT ADD ONS> You just have to pick what colors and what material and what floor plan you want. They take about 84 days to totally build a house. They are so very worth it. Then the very best part is that Steve and Tony, the owners of APEX, will fix anythign and everything asap that may need to be fixed. They don't take months to come by as other builders have been known to do. We had a heater go out in my jacuzzi tub (another standard feature) . Since we are still under 1 year warranty, they came out the SAME day to change it out and put a brand new one in. I can't rave enough about these guys. Or this house and neighborhood. It is quiet. We are very fortunate to have,at this very moment, currently, three police officers living in this neighborhood. We have the chief of police of Gallaway, a state trooper and an undercoverofficer all right here. As well as a paramedic, and several teachers for the new Atoka elem. Stop by and se Bonnie Walker of Remax who works in the Apex office. Or Steve and Tony. They will take care of you and show you around. Tell em Mary S. sent you.

My dad recently sold a house in Atoka in a lovely development right off Tracy.
The folks that bought it got a lot of house for the money.

You turn off Tracy onto Leggett and there are several side streets.
The streets are not thru streets and it is very quiet.

On one side there is a creek and they have to meet TDEC regulations in order to develop anything across the creek, so it is unlikely to happen anytime soon.
It is also laid out much nicer than the Blaydes Estates area and on bigger lots.

You can go to covingtonleader.com and click on "real estate rental" to bring up the houses for rent. I was also looking on craigslist for a washer and they have some rental houses for rent in Atoka and Munford. Good Luck!! We moved to Tipton County 11 years ago and absolutely LOVE it!!!
