Default More Questions-Arlington

Well as I said in another thread, we are moving to Arlington, the house is almost ready and I can't wait. So now I have been calling to get internet, cable and phone set up. Our subdivision does not seem to have any high speed internet services available!! Has anyone experienced this? How long does it generally take to get service out there?
We will have a security system but need phone service in place first according to the people I have talked to at the security company. Bellsouth does have phone lines but nothing else. I guess I should have checked into all this before hand!!
Also does anyone know when the 385 extentsion is supposed to be finished? We are told this will cut down commute times once it is done.......

I recently had a buddy move into a new neighborhood development (not in Arlington) and they were told it would be months before Comcast could run cable there. The neighborhood was on a waiting list. They had to get DSL and DirectTV instead because they couldn't wait that long with no cable and internet (how did we manage it years ago?!)

I'm suprised they don't have Comcast there yet. BellSouth should at least have DSL. Maybe just because it is a new subdivision and the lines haven't been run yet. You might have to do without high speed internet for a while. 385 was supposed to be finished two years ago. Who knows when they actually get around to paving it.

We already have directtv so that isn't a problem, the big problem is there is no DSL in this neighborhood either!! This is actually stressing me out big time!! How will I survivie with dial up!!! I might look into a wireless card for the time being.

We will actually be the first house finished in our subdivision, which makes me wonder what I was thinking when we bought it!! Oh well, nothing I can do about that. I just want to make sure we have atleast the basics ready to go.

So neither Bellsouth nor Comcast has run lines? Usually Bellsouth has to have theirs because for new subdivions the lines are run underground, thus dug in before the homes are actually built. Strange. Call both direct and ask how long it will be before they put lines down. And then add 3 months to their estimate :-/
