Default Oakland schools

We currently live in Bartlett, and are considering building in Oakland. Can anyone tell me about the schools out there -- especially elementary? What about Fayette Academy -- is the school good? How much annually?

Thanks!
Erin

All public schools in Fayette County are horrible, and Fayette Academy is only a little better. It's pretty much a redneck country school founded for the primary reason that whites didn't want to have to go to school with blacks after forced integration. If you are going to move to Fayette County and really want your children to have a good education, they will have to go to private school in Memphis. That is the reason that the vast majority of new homes in Fayette County are for the wealthy--the property tax savings on an estate home negates the expense of a quality private education.
