Starletblonde,

Being from New Jersey you may have a taste for pizza. I don't know if there are any pizzerias in the Memphis area that have it prepared the way you like. If you like Jewish food, there is Holy Cow Now and Ricki's Cookie Corner in East Memphis and Nosh-a-Rye in the Memphis Jewish Home in Cordova. All Jewish eating places are closed Saturday, natch.

What does this mean, and do you have examples? Collierville is every bit as nice as Germantown and leads, not follows.
I'm not sure what that means either. The two cities are pretty similar and could probably merge without much change, but I wouldn't say Collierville follows Germantown's lead. I'm guessing he/she was talking about creating their own school districts since Germantown was first to propose it, but that would be the only example I could think of. Collierville has alot to offer that Germantown cannot, like an outstanding mall, totally different restaurants, and lower priced neighborhoods. Collierville also has a ton of room to grow.

I don't find all that many restaurant options located in Germantown. Certainly there are more than several to choose from. In Collierville, there are a plethora of dining options.

I live in the Arlington area, it is a very peaceful, friendly small town. Not many places to rent right in the town, but I'd suggest Champion Hills Apartments. It is right on Hwy 64, which is an Arlington address, but with much more access to the mall, walmart, little shops and stores and the interstate(to visit Memphis)!! That'll will give you a good time frame to research the different areas and see where you'd like to start your family and buy a home. Arlington schools are wonderful as well, and the area is very family oriented. Although in the Bible belt, you will not be pressured into a religious organization, no matter where you go, once you get to know people they may invite you to their church, but nothing pushy or anything negitive-usually! The fact that Arlington is nice, if you like it, all the better to save gas and time rather than traveling. WELCOME TO THE AREA, I hope you find it to be a blessing, as my family has!!

I love Collierville, but if work is in Arlington, I would also recommend you take a look at living in Arlington. Schools are good, it's a nice area and convenient to everything.

And the comment about Collierville following everything Gtown does is ridiculous. Both towns are great in their own way.

Collierville and Germantown are best for kids. However, Midtown or East Memphis are better for younger families with more liberal views.

Everyones answers have been extremely helpful. My husband accepted the offer and we are making the move within the next 4 weeks or so. Thank you to everyone who gave me their input. Any additional input on my original question or just a random tidbit about the area would be greatly appreciated as we approach our moving date.

Didn't Germantown just hire two prosecutors from the Collierville court? OMG Germantown just copies everything Collierville does.
