My daughter LOVED Lindenwood Christian Child Care Center on the corner of East Parkway and Union. There is a waiting list for some of the younger rooms, but my daughter got right in at the age of 2. They are a Protestant church, but we (as non-Protestants) had no problems with the religious education. (They prayed before meals - a song- and celebrated Christmas and Easter). The staff there is amazing, and there is little turnover. (My daughter had the same teacher that a friend of mine had had five years earlier.)

I've likewise heard wonderful things about Lindenwood from several people. They also have a great summer camp for school-aged children. a highly regarded after-school-care program and great Girl Scout troops.

However, if you live in East Memphis and work in Wolfchase, during rush-hour traffic, you're probably looking at a 20-30 minute drive from your home west into Midtown, then a 30-45 minute drive east to the Wolfchase area. They could mean as much as 2.5 hours a day commuting from home to childcare to work and then back. You'd probably do better finding childcare closer to home or work.

In the downtown area, our 9 month daughter goes to the Prentiss-Hardin Childcare Center @ The Purdue Center/Salvation Army. She is on the waiting list at several downtown/midtown churches but I doubt I would move her now.

Hi susie.kirk,
Check out Christ United Methodist (on Poplar) and Roulhac's (on Yates; admits children beginning at 15 months)...both have a bit of a wait. Let me know how the search goes!
