Recently someone shared the picture of a cat who was available for adoption at the Memphis Animal Shelter onto my facebook page.

I could not get this little cat out of my mind and I just knew that someone would adopt her.
But no one did.

I checked back on the Friends of the Memphis Animal Shelter facebook page and found that she had been at the shelter longer than any other cat and she needed a home immediately.
I understood what that meant.
And I knew that I had to go bail this little cat out of the pound.

But I was scared.
I have been a lot of places and seen a lot of things in my life, but the thought of going into the Memphis pound filled me with absolute gut churning fear.
I got my sister and made her come with me.
She was scared too.
But we went.

Here is the thing, I had been several times to the old pound facility and the place was horrific.
Truly frightening.

But the new facility is bright, cheerful and airy.
There are volunteers who are helpful and want to help these animals get adopted.

If you are thinking of getting a pet, give the Memphis shelter pets a chance.
Go to the MAS and look please.
You may be the one that some little one is waiting for.
And it feels good to save a life...it really truly does.

If you have a bit room in your heart or your home to squeeze a little lost soul into, then go and do it today.

Oh, and today they are running a special Yappy Hour!
From 4-7 pets are available for a reduced adoption fee.
Every Thursday they have the Yappy Hour Special.
And they have other specials sometimes too.

I got my little pound kitty.
She is sleek,friendly and healthy.
I had to squeeze her in here, but she fit.

I met some other kitties while I was there who were lovely, friendly and want a home so badly.
Go meet Curley, an adorable little red fellow.
And Velvet who has an incredibly soft fur.
And the truly beautiful red point with the vibrant blue eyes.
I cannot believe that these babies have been overlooked and time is not on their side at this point.
I am praying that someone can take them before the weekend.

If you have thought about adopting a pet, but you are afraid of the Memphis shelter, go and see.
It is okay.
If you know someone who is thinking of adopting a pet, please suggest the Memphis shelter.
Offer to go with them.
Save a life and find a friend.

I couldn't agree more. We actually adopted our little yorkie last year. He didn't come from there, but we rescued him none the less. And he has become such a family member.

Great post.

It is right off Appling.
And it is really easy to get to.
Actually it is close to the car inspection place.

And if you have a space for a kitty, please go look at Curley and Velvet.
The big kitties are spayed or neutered already and have been vetted and microchipped.
The adoption process does not take a lot of time.
Choose a pet, fill out a short form, pay the fee and that is it!

FYI

The kitties I posted about are still in the shelter.
They have been in the shelter for too long, if you understand what I am saying.

The shelter is having a special rate for cat adoptions.
It is usually $75, on Yappy Hour Thursday it is $40, But right now it is $20.
They run this special just to try to save some lives.
It is kind of like the shelter is making a last ditch effort to rehome these babies before it is too late for them.

The kitties have been spayed or neutered, wormed, shots, checked over by the vet.
They have also been micochipped.
They are friendly, healthy and waiting hopefully for a new home.

If you know someone who might be looking for a new little friend, please let them know about this.
And if you have a facebook PLEASE SHARE.
It only takes a click and a moment.
It feels good to help save a life.
If a lot of people do just a little we can possibly accomplish what is a miracle for these poor little critters.
I found my new kitty when someone shared her photo to my facebook.
And she is a lovely cat.
There is a volunteer in the cat adoption area named Rebecca and she really works with these animals.
But she can't save them if no one comes in to adopt, you know?

I am posting again to remind y'all that tomorrow is Thursday at the Memphis pound.
Bargain day.

Lots of good critters need to be bailed out.

If you are thinking about adopting a pet, spring is a good time.

And if you know anyone who is thinking of getting a dog or cat or sometimes bird or rabbit, please mention Memphis Animal Services to them.

Today is Thursday.

There is an adoption special today.
$40 for all adoptions.
This includes chipping, all shots and neutered.
It is a good deal.
Save a life and bring some love into yours.

And mention to people who might be thinking of getting a pet that there are many good little souls waiting in the shelter.
But they don't let them wait long, and you know what I mean...

It is Thursday again.

The bargain day for animal adoptions at Memphis Animal Shelter.

If you are thinking of adopting a pet it would be a good time.
They are overrun.

Yesterday they euthanized 20+ adoptable dogs.
I saw the photos of some pretty dogs that died last night.
Big dogs and puppies.

They are also overrun with cats and kittens.

Don't be afraid to go, the adoption area is bright and cheerful.

Anyway, if you know anyone who is thinking of adopting a pet please encourage them to adopt a shelter pet.

It is embarrassing to me that our city is running a slaughter house.

The Tunica Humane Society sends many dogs from Memphis up north for adoption because in much of the north they actually spay and neuter their dogs. But they cannot send them all. There are too many.
If there was an aggressive spay neuter project in Memphis there would be so much less pain and fear and death.

Oh, and if you have a dog, keep a name tag on his collar.
You can get one on Amazon for $3 shipped.
Or get one right away at Petsmart.
I saw a list of dogs in the pound that were found with collars that were up for adoption or death.

Oh, Bartlett's shelter is full. So is West Memphis.
And I imagine Tipton County Shelter.
(The Tipton shelter is a few minuters from Millington)
