What memphis schools for elementary are good? coming from michigan
Hello,
My family is moving to Memphi, from Michigan due to my husband being offered more money to transfer his work. The zipcode of where his work is, is 38133.
Please excuse my lack of area names as I have NO clue about any areas. I have a 2.5 yr old, and an almost 8 year old, and at this point cannot afford private school, so public is a have too.
My rent needs to stay under 800 a month, so I realise that is restricting. I don't mind the idea of burbs, or city. My issue is more so safe schooling, and able to take my kids to zoo's, museums, and just a new life of experinces.
Why I look up all these rents I just don't know the areas, so I am looking for zip codes near my husbands work that are decent areas?
Thanks everyone!!!!

IIRC, 38133 is the Raleigh/Bartlett area, as is 38134. Actually, part of 38134 is in Raleigh and part is in Bartlett. For $800 a month, if you're looking to rent an apartment, you could afford to live in Bartlett Heights, which is on Stage Road within the Bartlett city limits. Your children would be zoned for schools in Bartlett, which are part of the Shelby County school system. You'd be in good shape, imo.

Make sure you live in Shelby Co School district, and you will be okay. Bartlett, Germantown, Collierville. For that rent range and given your husband's job, staying in Bartlett is fine. Just make sure the apts are zoned for Bartlett Schools (and not west into Frayser, or east into Cordova, which are both city school districts).

I just moved to the Memphis area from Michigan for the same reason... I have two small children and we are currently renting in Horn Lake, MS. I do not recommend Desoto County Mississippi. We are looking to buy a house in Bartlett. I know Bartlett is a very large city, but what we have seen of it from our realtor- we just loved. I understand that Shelby County Schools are were you want to be. I would definitly look into Bartlett for your price range. Welcome and Good Luck!
