I guess that is why your are not on their board.

You are out of your mind. Do you know how much money it would cost FedEx to move their operations out of Memphis? How is that going to be good for shareholders? FedEx basically owns MEM. They are not here solely for the benefit of Memphis. It is a mutually beneficial relationship. Your Memphis hate is enormous.

However, I think chasing the NFL was a smart move over the years and would have been successful if we had committed to building a new stadium. The NFL made the right choice in 1976 by picking Seattle and Tampa Bay but when the NFL expanded in the 1990s, they should have picked Charlotte and Memphis instead of Jacksonville. An NFL team in Memphis would have done very well.

Nashville getting a team certainly ends that dream for the rest of anyone's lifetime who is reading this forum, but we got the Grizzlies which is very good for Memphis so it probably worked out for the best.
The NBA stinks.

I bet you haven't a clue how much activity and business is ALREADY done at the Indianapolis NATIONAL hub, do you...yes, Memphis is a superhub, but have you ever heard about "de-centralization" for economies of scale ?

Frankly, an argument can be made about the total inefficiencies of any "super hub" like the one found in Memphis.....they are behemoths fraught with huge overhead and inefficiencies.

FEDEX opened their Indianapolis hub in 1988. Three expansions since opening have made IND home to the second largest hub in the world for FedEx behind only the world hub at MEMPHIS. IND is the eighth largest cargo center in the U.S., the 22nd busiest airport in the world by cargo traffic.

Excellent facts. It wouldn't take much at all for Fred Smith to relocate his main FedEx headquarters from Memphis to Indianapolis. It definitely would behoove him to relocate FedEx to a place like Indy long term rather than just keep it headquarted here in Memphis forever. That's absolutely feasible, no matter how much some folks in Memphis would love to deny it.

Yes indeed...odd thinking indeed, and selective thinking.

How do they think International Paper moved their so-called "headquarters" to MEMPHIS ? lol albeit their "operational HQ" not the entire firm.....they stole a deal and the farm from the city and others.

Headquarters move ALL the time...lol.....even NFL/NBA teams do ...lol

Nothing is "forever". They would immediately garner support from IND, and gain a better educated selection of possible team members

I am well aware of FedEx's operations in Indy. A shipping company the size of FedEx is going to have other large hubs in the US. This does not limit the important role that Memphis plays for FedEx. The fact that you and your partner in negativity would love to see FedEx leave Memphis does not make it any closer to becoming reality. You guys can dream though.

You seem overly preoccupied with personalizing divergent points of view by other posters.

Your attempts to personally attack the credibility of the "poster himself" rings hollow, weak, and
sickening....moreover ineffective. No one is trying to sway favor on a forum....it's posting OPINIONS, but
you find it more convenient to attack a person, rather than expressing your own opinions, which you are free to do so.

Go talk with Smith. He's already been ON RECORD as stating " Memphis is not COMPETITIVE"

So go argue with Smith about his own words. Some of us already know the lack of competitiveness, education, free thinking, progressivism, forward effective politics and a host of other metrics.....No need
to constantly become totally defensive about your own city's shortcomings and quagmire.

When you attempt to attack or "label" a poster with a position that differs from yours, it makes you look like a sorehead living in a box....it makes you look LITTLE....very very small indeed.

No one is running for office...I know I'm not...nor am I "hall monitor".....or in the business of burnishing any city's image of itself, or playing a role in perpetuating a LIE.

ENJOY

...and yet another transplant to Memphis has spoken!!!

People here in Memphis need to wake up and realize and admit that Memphis is still very much stuck in the 20th Century while the rest of the nation and the world are passing them by right now in the 21st Century.

By the time Memphis finally decides to play catchup---if and when it ever does---it never will because it will have waited so long and fallen even farther behind.

One person who left Indianapolis for a FedEx job and now wants to move back to Indianapolis does not represent an entire population.

FedEx will continue to be a staple of Memphis' economy, and will continue to be one of the most well-known and well-respected companies in the world. In the unlikely event that FedEx moves its headquarters elsewhere, Memphis will prevail. The city has survived worse catastrophes.
