We've been living in the Myrtle Beach, SC area for 5 years now, moving down from NE Ohio. We're a friendly, laid-back 50's something couple, and really like the South in general. We were very active back home and enjoyed alot of casual entertaining. In SC, we've joined a church, attended political meetings, taken classes at the small local university, etc. We've met nice folks, but nobody seems to get together just to play cards or visit over a cup of coffee. Our neighborhood is a nice middle class area mixed with locals and transplants. Everyone is very nice, but a smile and a wave are all you get. We're really considering moving! How is it in Memphis? I've seen some of the older neighborhoods of lovely brick homes and big trees--they look alot like where we used to live. Are people friendly in Memphis? Could you suggest neighborhoods that are safe, middleclass areas...or any areas to really avoid looking into? We really appreciate input from anyone before we start making some trips to Memphis to look at specific neighborhoods.
