I am looking to replace one tooth. I was previously looking at removable partials as a few people I know have them as they are much more reasonable. But I've decided I prefer a more permanent solution of a bridge.

The quotes I have gotten are a lot higher than I expected them to be. I've never had major dental work done, I thought a procedure like this would be around the $800 mark (or at least less than $1000). But seems this service is closer to $2500+.

Does this quote seem about right for replace of one tooth? Of course I know with the bridge you have to file down the neighboring 2 teeth, which I was hesitant about, but when I read that they were basically installed the same as "crowns" I became a little more receptive to the idea. Just have to care for them so that they last a long time. (Any advice about caring for a bridge?)

Anyone have any recommendations for someone that offers this service more reasonably in the Memphis/Mid-south area?

You could try University of Tennessee Dentistry and see what they will charge. The dentists there are students in residency. I was referred to them by my primary dentist for my wisdom teeth removal and I was charged $75 per tooth removal. They said they usually charge around $150+ for tooth removal. I don't know if you have health insurance or some kind of plan like the Memphis Plan, but I think it's worth looking into.

hi shpgrl,

If you can't find any dentist in your area, you might consider getting the procedure done aboard... there are some third party sites, like the one below, which allow you to define the price of treatment before the procedure and discuss your needs with the physicians.

good luck!
