Default bball hoops in cordova

Hey guys, I've just moved to Cordova from PA a couple of weeks ago and now that things are starting to settle in, my son and I would like to start playing bball again. I've found a park on Farmington Blvd but there are no hoops there. Could you please tell me where I could find some hoops. Thank you

You might want to think about joining a gym, or the YMCA. They would have basketball courts. The Y's fees are really cheap for families and there are some really good ones here in town. They also offer leagues (if you were interested).

that's a great idea, I was thinking about it, but both my son and I prefer being outdoors...unless it's snowing. We're coming from northern Pennsylvania where it snows 5 months a year, so 30-40 degree weather would be nothing. Thank you Pearlbob

I'm not quite certain about the Y's out there...I know the one in SE Memphis on Quince has an outdoor pool and I think tennis courts...maybe bball courts? There is a great new Y in Collierville too. I'm not sure about the one that would be closest to Cordova. You can check their websites though, ymcamemphis.org. There is also a big gym at Sycamore View/I-40 (you can see it from the interstate) and I know they have outdoor tennis courts and I think a pool.

I can't think of any outdoor courts in Cordova. If you're thinking of joining an athletic facility, I recommend Germantown Centre. Non-Germantown residents can join for a slightly elevated fee. Cool place.

There are a couple gyms in Cordova that I can think of, the one off of Gtown Rd at Club Pkway, and then the one behind Sekisui on Gtown Rd (I think that one is a 24 Hr Fitness). Not sure about what they are like though. I'm pretty sure neither would have outdoor courts, but should have indoor ones.

ok, thanks guys, i'll check them out and make a decision.

I don't wanna start a new topic so I'll ask another question here, if you don't mind. In PA an annual auto inspection was required for all cars (breaks, tires, emission etc). Is the same thing required here? On DMV.org I only found out that if I live in Memphis I need an emissions test (I live in Cordova, how do I find out if I'm incorporated or not?). Thank you so much

Bert Ferguson Community Center on Trinity Road (next to the Cordova public library) has indoor and outdoor courts.

Yes, if you are a Memphis resident, and most of Cordova is incorporated into Memphis now, you have to get your car inspected. It's not just emissions, it's an all around inspection. Do you kids go to Memphis city or Shelby county schools? That's the easiest way to know right off hand.

When you get your emissions test, they'll also check your brakes, headlights, flashers, etc. If you're in Cordova, you're more than likely incorporated. What general area of Cordova is your location now (i.e. Germantown and Dexter, Germantown and Trinity)?
