Memphis Mom of three is on a distinguished road
I went to the university of memphis and lived on and off campus during my time there. I love the area. When I was first married we live not far from the campus in High Point Terrace. I now live in Fayette County and miss the area terribly. Yes, crime is an issue, and you must be careful. I however loved the culture and the convenience of the area. You are going to be in a great place. Enjoy and have fun!

Don't go south of the tracks or east of highland. Crime is still a problem in there. I might consider commuting. Memphis doesn't have to much of a campus life.

Like they've said, the area is a target for criminals because of the students. The U of M has no campus life, as compared to other big colleges. You might not be bad off, but from where I stand, why take the risk? Isn't your life and well-being worth a little bit farther of a drive?

I'm assuming that the OP has found a place by now, considering it's been ten months.
