Now if they would have gone with the original full color logo with a huge fishing lure going up the side of the building as an elevator, I may have had a different opinion lol. Luckily people spoke up and Bass Pro listened. I love how the logo kind of matches the building.

I find it kind of annoying that this big, beautiful, glass and steel pyramid has a giant, neon Bass Pro sign on the front of it. Kind of like that episode of The Tick where that villain with a chair for a head carved in the word "Ha" on the moon and made it look like Pac-Man.

But then again, I view it as being a kind of landmark, for the most part. That's why the sign bugs me, but I guess as long as something useful or good is being done with it that helps the city in some way, that's nice.

I would go on, but I haven't actually been inside, myself. Some(one I know) would say that it's a place for more middle-class families to enjoy themselves in the city while keeping the lower-class "rabble" out.

As someone who went inside for the first time this Saturday...
It was a waste of time and money. The Bass Pro on Macon looks more authentic than this new one. It's a 'hotspot' for right now, but I really don't see it staying that way 5 more years down the road. Memphians get excited about new venues but stop supporting them after a certain amount of time, ie, Peabody Place, Parisian at the collierville mall, hell even the Pyramid.

They should have turned it into an indoor theme park as the Erickson Group suggested.

I've been hesitant to say it, but I felt the same way after my first visit. Hopefully we're both wrong. It just didn't seem so special or unique once I was inside. That disappointed me, given the prominence of the building and the lead up to its opening.

I would say the potential difference is that Bass Pro is attempting to be more than a local attraction.

You mean the one in a former Walmart? Are you serious?

I can see where you are coming from with the rest of your post...but this sentence makes no sense. Bass Pro went all out with the Pyramid in my opinion.

This. Hotels inside is the main reason for that point

Hopefully, in that case, they don't need locals, and can continually refresh their product to generate repeat visitors... Everyone, most importantly Memphis, would win in that regard.

Many say the Bass Pro logo on the side of the Pyramid is tacky, but I say look at it this way...

We have 5 corporate logos on the Memphis skyline: Raymond James, First Tennessee, iBank, Lokion, and AutoZone.

Now Bass Pro. The more corporate logos on the skyline, maybe the more people will think "Wow, look at all the businesses choosing to have headquarters/large divisions in Memphis. Business must be good here."

I say it's great.
Interesting point. There's an opportunity to create a synergistic outdoor/family district in the Pinch area, with a little foresight and planning.

Well trevorbirchett, my opinion makes perfect sense to me so that's all that really matters.
