It is, but West Memphis is basically a big truck stop the traffic on the bridges is just as bad as coming from out east too. But, it would be closer.

Right, I don't think I'd feel great staying in a "big truck stop".
What about the La Quinta on Primacy Parkway?

By St. Francis? It's an okay area, but quite a drive from midtown. I always have to warn people about the active railroad track that goes near there too

Agreed. A lot of people commute 45+ min back and forth, everyday. That's just what is done here in Memphis. I actually know only a handful of people who DON'T have a long commute everyday. I think if you only have to do it for a few days until your apt is ready, it'll be fine.

Hey Ellet,
Just wanted to give another thumbs up to Riverset Apartments in Mud Island / Harbor Town. I owned a little house on Mud Island when I worked for International Paper several years ago. Alot of my friends / co-workers had apartments at Riverset. Like others have said they have a little grocery store (Boar's Head lunchmeat FTW! :-) ) and a neat pizza / video rental shop.
I really miss the place - I remember walking across the bridge and taking the trolley downtown many times. I really used to love getting breakfast and hanging out at Cafe Francisco - I wonder if it is still open?
Good luck in Memphis. It is a great place for new grads.

Cafe Francisco closed a while ago. There is about zero business in the Pinch area now.

I settled on a place in Midtown. I'm moving to Memphis today and staying in a friend's apartment downtown and then moving into my apartment next Saturday. Thanks for all the help!
