Thanks; One site I looked at online said there was a waiting list for all the 1 bedroom units. We'll stop by though.

Oh no! Oh well...might want to call and check; I never rely on anything I see online, who knows how often people update their websites. If you are looking at Henry Turley's website for the place, I know it is updated rarely. Or at least used to be.
The Madison area is nice, although it can go from nice to a little shady quickly, just like everywhere in midtown. Right around Madison and McLean is nice though. Of course, I don't know anything about what the places look like on the inside.
Good luck! And definitely ask if you have more questions.

I just accepted the job and my tentative start date is 3/17. We're heading up this weekend to look at places. Anyone know hotels in Midtown? Nothing fancy needed.

there are actually no great hotels in midtown.
Do NOT stay at the Artisan.
There is a Holiday Inn and a Gen X Inn right next to one another at the interstate and Union/Madison. They are okay. And that sums it up.
You can always stay downtown and drive. It's only about a 5 minute car ride from midtown (but not walkable).

Ok, we'll do that. I think there is a Mariott near where I'll be working.

Don't stay at the Marriott downtown...stay at the Residence Inn by Marriott if you have to stay at that brand. The regular Marriott (and the Wyndham) are north of downtown and a bit of a hike from everything else.

OK. We'll only be there 1 night. Literally driving in Friday and spending Saturday looking at places and then coming back.

"Cosy"? I take it the person meant "cozy." I'd be interested to hear what that actually means.
That building is one of the cheapest in downtown. It's condos, and apparently this person is renting one unit out. But, it's older, and definitely not up to date like the new condos that are in the South Main area. There seems to be units for sale in that building a lot. the last 2 bedroom I saw for sale there was around $160k I think, which is a ton less than any other condo you'll see downtown. Makes you wonder about the building. But, if you are just renting, you don't necessarily have to worry about the same things that owners do. Nice location, however, the "nearby garage parking" is several blocks away. A headache in the rain or if you are carrying anything.

If you are only here one night, and you do not want to do anything in town, you might as well stay at the Gen X Inn. I'd take that over the Holiday Inn next door anyday, as it's not on as major of a road. It gets okay reviews; it's just not a great area. (not dangerous, but you're right on the interstate and it's a little sketchy at night)
