I can't help but laugh at this. Is it safe, or is it near Memphis? Like those are exceptions

It's a tiny little, still pretty rural, town outside of Memphis - far outside.

I don't know if Somerville is safe or not. My guess would be Yes, since it's rural and far away from Memphis. Depending on where you work, I would definitely recommend looking into Somerville. We are looking to buy out there, and Somerville is much more charming than Oakland, with the nice old midtown and such.

Being far from Memphis doesn't necessarily equal safe. I havent been to Somerville, but I've been to Covington which is about the same distance from Memphis, but it's located in Tipton County. It's the county seat of Tipton County, just like Somerville is the county seat of Fayette County. I've been to Covington pleanty of times and I would never want to live there even though it's far from Memphis. It's a small town but some parts remind me alot of the inner city. There is a lot of crime there and I even saw something on the news a while back about a drug and prositution problem there. So i'm not saying that Somerville is like Covington, but please don't assume that further away from Memphis means it's better.

We moved here from Mobile, AL 2 years ago. And that is why I thought I would ask about areas, where do find out about crime, etc in a city or town?

You can search online and find crime statistics for any city, county, state, etc in the US.

I didn't mean to be rude, but it was just funny how you worded it. "Is it safe or is it near Memphis."

Well, I guess I don't understand. I think you are mistaken about Memphis. Memphis does not = unsafe. I honestly do not get the question "is it too close to Memphis to be safe." I live in the middle of Memphis, and my neighborhood is safe. There are plenty of very safe areas of Memphis, Memphis suburbs, and tiny towns outside Memphis like Somerville.

Olive Branch is close to Memphis than Somerville. Is your neighborhood unsafe?
