We have been looking at this "fixer upper" and are considering putting in an offer. However we are new to the area and don't know of any good contractors we could team up with on this project. Unfortunately you hear all these horror stories of contractors ripping their clients off.

Why don't you check with the Better Business Bureau or Chamber of Commerce? They should know of the good contractors. Wish I could help more.
