Just out of curiosity, what's the area like near Egypt Central Rd. to the west of Singleton Pwky?
Is that considered Bartlett? |

Bartlett is its own city and its border stops at Old Brownsville Road, although anything east of Bartlett Blvd is transitional. The area to which you refer is considered the Egypt area. I'd say it was a transitional area as well. It's not a particularly great area in which to live.

The area west of Singleton Parkway is not Bartlett. The edge of Bartlett on the North West side is Billy Maher road (north of Memphis-Arlington, south of Memphis Arlington the border meanders farther west) until you hit Old Brownsville. At that point, the Bartlett Annexation reserve extend west to Singleton Parkway (north of Old Brownsville) and north to the Loosahatchie River. The part of Egypt Central in Bartlett (it dead ends into Billy Maher) is a good area (especially around Quail Ridge Golf Course and further east). The part of Egypt Central that picks up again to the west at New Brownsville is at best transitional. The further west you go, the worse it gets until you are in the heart of Frayser (a not great part of Memphis).
I wouldn't mind living on or off Egypt Central anywhere on the Bartlett side (east of Billy Maher), but I wouldn't invest a dime of my own money in any property in the Memphis annexation area off Egypt Central (west of New Brownsville). I think in Tigergal's response, she likely meant anything west of Bartlett Blvd (which changes to Billy Maher at Memphis Arlington Road) is transitional. I don't agree with this totally, as the areas more centrally located in Bartlett are still fine neighborhoods. The closer you get to the Memphis borders, the sketchier it gets, but most of the area west of Bartlett Blvd are still nice areas. Confusing enough for you? |

Thanks for the info!
If it helps, the specific area I'm referring to is Lake Forest Dr. You can get it to either from Austin Peay Hwy/Lakehurst Dr. or Egypt Central/Rosswood. |

Probably built about 35 years ago. Some really nice custom built homes. |
