Schilling Farms is a big area with different kinds of development ranging from single-family to condos to apartments. If you're looking to buy, the least expensive housing I came across there was $200k or so for a 2-BR condo.
From what I understand from friends in Collierville, Collierville High School is ok, but not great. At least it's big enough that it offers a good range of courses, including AP-type courses.

Schilling Farms has great living places. However, Schilling Farms feeds into Houston High School, not Collierville, thus the "Stallions" nickname and not the Dragons. The exact home address determines that and that may change every year.

Schilling seems like a neat community, very nice houses, with NO yards whatsoever. I am moving my daughter from Schilling Middle to private school. Most elementary schools around here are OK though.

I don't live in the burbs but Collierville is a very desirable and expensive city outside of Memphis. I go there alot on weekends for movies, bowling and such. Few co-workers of mine love it and have kids in school out there. Will you be renting or buying? There are some newer apartments out there Madison SF, the Preserve on Forest Irene... If you are buying good for you and welcome to Memphis

Schilling Farms is a nice area. I have lived in Collierville for 10 years and have moved to different neighborhoods. Houston High School is a good school, but did not have as good a reputation as Collierville. Most people in Collierville prefer Collierville High School. A new school was built to start moving kids form Houston so it may be changing. I have a child who is a junior and has done very vell at Collierville. Lots of AP classes to choose from. She made a 32 on her ACT. So I think the school prepares the students well. Schilling Farms is very pretty. The YMCA is near. It has a nice outdoor pool and lots of family activities. The community Center is nice. There are walking trails and parks all interconnected. Johnson Park has a nice nature trail that is about a mile down to the Wolf River. I hope you like it! I love it!

I recently relocated to the Memphis area and bought a home in Schilling Farms after a ton of research. That said, I am single, early 40s, and no kids. If you want an upscale zero lot community, extremely well maintained, lots of amenities (YMCA, pool, planned development, convenient, and safe/peaceful)--a great area. For nightlife, Memphis isn't far away.
