I don't know how I slammed Memphis in what I wrote... if you think I did, I sincerely apologize. Memphians puzzle me. Is it perhaps only they can say bad things about where they live/where they're from/be negative about their area? but if "outsiders" do, then they are dissed? I don't know... I only know one thing for sure and that is I am enjoying living in this area very much.

FYI: Very interesting book about life, death, and the intense horrors which took place in Memphis in 1878... "The American Plague", by Molly Caldwell Crosby, the untold story of Yellow Fever, the epidemic that shaped our history. Highly recommended.

I'd venture to say that the vast majority of Memphians wouldn't find this sentence to be complimentary: "If there was a way to sweep all the people who've lived in the Memphis area into the Mississippi River and out into the ocean, I would!!!"

The book is, indeed, excellent.

And just how many of the almost 1,000,000 people in Memphis/Shelby County would you wash into the ocean. Would you please shut up rather than say stuff like this, just get off the board, and leave town.

It is an absurd and offensive statement to hear anyone make. Yes the city has its problems, just like other cities, but crap like that you spew, just keeps a good number of the problems moving along.

Umm, I wasn't the one that said that. I was quoting another poster.

Please consider Bartlett, Tn. It is adjacent to Memphis but is incorporated as a separate city. We have a small town atmosphere and great schools. Not as pricey as Germantown but every bit as nice. The commute to downtown is about 20 minutes. We are selling and moving to Nashville only because I need a heart transplant at Vanderbilt. I think you would be shocked to see how much house you get for the money here. Mine is 3000 sq ft listed at $209,900, and its on a golf course. Listed with Rosemarie Yoon at Crye-Leike.
