art in Memphis (rent, condo, hotels)

I'm looking for a shop in memphis that rent booths to artists to display and sell their work.Most of the places I've looked seem to be junk shops.I'm a metal artist and need a place for my work between gallery shows. thanks

You might want to call the metal museum and ask them for suggestions. You just need storage, or an actual shop to sell things at? You can look into the downtown farmers market, I have seen metal art there before. You might want to go to the next South Main Trolley Tour and ask around there too.

I would be interested in finding the answer to this as well, as I am a local artist who just moved here from Michigan! I work mostly in photography and oil paintings though. Perhaps we should set up shop together?

check w/ kat semrau downtown at her gallery in the south district. she also has a gallery in jackson, tn. usually, she likes to feature the pottery works and sculptures of southern artists---particularly mississippi artists, she is a native of ms. she deals w/ artist who work in oils, pastels, etc. from various parts of the u.s. tell her a good "PARTY" person referred her for info/help. good luck.

Memphis business community is strange, but some developers of office buildings/plaza/lobbys, etc may allow you to display your work

Some public libraries and public spaces may allow it as well- they do in other cities

Some public colleges/universities may allow it, in the name of 'public art'- check with the local art councils

Some hospitals may allow it as well

Medical Doctors offices- clinics

Art schools- career colleges-condo associations- public meeting halls-

even some restaurants may have an interest-

large hotels - small hotels even-



If they sell your work, they can get a FEE !
