Anyone live in Atoka?
Looking at a house in the 38004 zip and was wondering about the schools there. Any information on the city, schools, community would be greatly appreciated.

I don't reside in Atoka so I can't give you any specifics. However, I have looked at some houses with some friends and its an up and coming area. The houses and land are still pretty affordable compared to areas in Fayette County that have "boomed" over the last few years. Its definitely a desired area. As far as the community, schools and other details I can't tell you. Maybe some others can chime in here. However, if you are looking at some houses you might want to ask your real esate agent- thats if you are even at that point yet. Maybe they can give you the details you are seeking. Good luck.

My folks live out that way, and I grew up there. From what I understand, the schools are quite good, unless you have kids with disabilities, in which case you're better off in the Shelby County School System (not the Memphis City School system).
It's got a small town feel to it, since it IS a small town. There's a movie theater and a supermarket there, along with a few restaurants. The folks are quite friendly. Memphis is a straight shot down Hwy 51, taking about 35-45 minutes.

I live in Munford. Not sure about the schools since I didn't grow up here but it's a super nice area. Olympic Steak and Pizza has the best pizza ever.

Atoka has a brand new elementary school, then you go into munford middle and high. Fantastic schools. Rapidly growing area, but still a small town feel.

I have lived in Atoka, Brighton & Munford. The schools in the area are good schools. Depending on where in Atoka you are looking will depend on which school you child/children will go to. The is a new elementary school off of Rosemark road just north of the Tipton-Shelby county line and an elementary school over off of Hwy. 14 (Austin Peay Hwy) that I have been in or had dealings with. The elementary school in Brighton & Munford are very good schools. The Brighton Middle school & High School are very good schools also. I have lived in several areas in south Tipton county and believe you would be well pleased with south Tipton County.

Atoka has many modern amenities, a new Kroger, movie theater, Walgreens - all built within the last two years. Lots of new development. Wish I could say the same for Ripley..
