Default looking for a fish market

I've been living here for about 9 months, moved here from Florida, and have yet to find the best place to buy seafood. Can anyone recommend a good fish market? I live in Midtown, but if there's a good one that happens to be far away, I'm willing to drive!

Thanks!

Ah I understand your frustration I have visited Miami several times and seafood there is really fresh. Try Wild Oats on Poplar

Well, this is Memphis and BBque is our thing since we arent surounded by water like Miami, unless you like dirty Mississippi River fish, thats always pretty good.

You may have to try a place like The Shell, its on Winchester in the Southwind Area, thats the area passed Hickory Hill on Winchester

I've lived here for about 20 years and honestly, I don't think we have fresh fish markets here. I've looked all over! Fish in Memphis just grosses me out. I can't eat it. Dr Who is right, Barbecue is our thing! I'm moving near the ocean in a month so I'll eat some fresh fish in your honor! Hopefully someone can come along here with some secret fish market, because I still have family here that would like to know. Good luck in your search!

There used to be a good fish market here, but it closed about 15 years ago.

The locals here typically go fishing when they want fresh fish - obviously not seafood, but that's best on the coast anyway.

My husband has just corrected me and says American Seafood Company is at 3657 Old Getwell Road and sells whole seafood.

Just a tip, don't go fishing in the Mississippi River, it's gross!!!! Find a lake. A good one is Herb Parsons Lake in Eads.

Thanks. We fish at Sardis and the like (as well as lakes on family land). Our first love, though, is fly-fishing on nice cold rivers. I've never been particularly fond of Parson's Lake.
