Thanks Pushkins wife. We are enjoying our stay and impressed by how friendly and helpful everyone is being to us. Just been to see the apartment and I would agree with you that probably Preserve at Forest Creek is nicer. Most of the apartments I viewed today were associated with the Sycamore elementary school. Has anyone got any feedback on this school?

I have friends who's children go to Sycamore Elementary. They love it. It is a very diverse school, with White, Black, Asian, and Hispanic children in various percentages, with no one group having more than about 1/3 of the school population. The staff is supposedly top notch, and they have a Spanish language program (I believe the only one in a Shelby County elementary school).

Sycamore is a great school! My kids go there. The staff is first rate and Dr Butler (principal) is outstanding. It is also a new facility, so that is a plus!

Thanks for all the info. One last question .. for the time being. We seem to have settled down for Germantown as it ticked most of our boxes re schools, safety etc. Has anyone heard anything about the Vineyard apartments? We quite liked them because they were slightly larger than some of the other apartments we viewed - but then everything looks nice in a viewing. Also, these apartments are associated with Riverdale school. Again, we visited the school and it looked great. Is it really as good as the principal said it was?

Is there a reason you are looking into Germantown? There are some nice areas around there but stay away from southwind area. I grew up there and my parents still live in the area, i have noticed the decline and the so-called "w_flight)

The southern edge of Germatown (in the city of Germantown) is fine. It may not be as nice as some of the other areas of Germantown, but it is very safe and stable.
