One of the most beautiful places in Memphis is the campus of Rhodes College at 2000 North Parkway. Beautiful stone buildings, great architecture, and an excellent liberal arts college.

Unfortunately there is a large, but tastefully done, fence surrounding the entire campus which says something about crime in Midtown. One can visit the campus, but you have to go through a security gate and state the purpose of the visit.

There are 2 locations. One on Covington Pike, past the dealerships, on the east side of the road (2920 Covington Pike). The other one is in Germantown; I want to say it is in the Exeter shops around the corner from Michael's.

I feel so much better now. We're coming to visit and look at homes in Bartlett, and I feel so much better an positive about the move!
Of course I have NO clue what any of the things mean...but it sounds nice, lol.

Beautiful residential architecture.
Plenty of mature trees.
Courteous people.
Easy town to get around.
Museums and libraries are nice compared to many places.
Great restaurants.
Not nearly as expensive as many other cities.
There is an element of grace here that has been lost in many other places these days.

James Hyter is still alive and well at 86 years old. He still sings at St. Luke's UMC.

I didn't realize that. I remember him singing every year when I was a kid. And he struck me as quite advanced in age then.

It's great that he's still around. Quite a unique Memphis tradition.
